Mentorship can be an incredibly valuable way in which we do discipleship. The idea of mentorship is learning from the experiences of those who have gone before us. Marriage is hard enough, even when everything is going well. A couple does not need to be in crisis before looking for some help or advice for their marriage. Sometimes they just need a couple who has gone before them that can help guide them through the joys and the challenges of today.
Being a Mentor Couple does not require a perfect marriage, but if you have a healthy marriage and a desire to see others experience the joys of a healthy marriage then I would encourage you to take the Marriage Mentorship Training.
Even if we can train 1-2 couples within our church in Rolla, we can begin to offer this to the many marriages both new and old in our congregation. Please talk to Pastor David if you are interested and then we will order the materials and plan a date to do the training.
What is required of a Marriage Mentor?
After completing a three and a half hour training, a couple is ready to mentor another couple, meeting once a month for approximately a year. During these roughly ninety-minute meetings, they have guided conversations on the 14 Essential Marriage Topics found in the mentoring guides (workbooks).
