This week we are jumping into a difficult passage. Jesus curses a fig tree and then as he enters the temple, he begins throwing out people who are buying and selling in the Temple market. As you prepare for this Sunday's message, spend some time pondering these questions: The Fig tree story sandwiches the temple story, which is important and tells us that they are connected in their themes. What does the fruitless fig tree tell us about the temple and what Jesus is doing in the temple? In Jesus' actions within the temple, he quotes from Isaiah 56:1-8 and Jeremiah 7:1-15. How do these passages teach us about Jesus' plans for the Temple and those that are using it wrongly?
