This week we are continuing into the introduction of Mark's Gospel in Mark 1:1-8. Mark is giving us a prologue before diving into the action-packed story of the Gospel of Jesus. As you read and study the passage before Sunday's message, ponder some of these questions:
What Old Testament references is Mark making regarding John's coming? How is the wording different to the Old Testament references? How does Mark use these differences to speak to who Jesus is?
Why does John the Baptist contrast Baptism with Water with Baptism with the Holy Spirit? What is the difference? How do passages like Isaiah 32:15; 44:3; Ezekiel 36:26-27; 39:29; Joel 3:1-2, speak to the idea of the baptism with the Holy Spirit.
